Yes, it is our dirty little secret. In our house, you can have your pacifier until you are three years old (only while sleeping, of course.) And Parker LOVES to sleep with her paci!
Our trip to New York was strategically planned to have enough time to get rid of the paci when we got back. We have been talking about the Paci Fairy coming for quite a while. She never really seemed thrilled about the idea but wasn't completely resistant either. Here is a little video of Parker explaining the Paci Fairy.
So, The day after we got back from New York, Parker was able to have one last time, at naptime.
Parker enjoying every second of that last paci! (I usually NEVER take pictures with a paci in her mouth but for the sake of her last time, I did)
Parker got a large envelope and decorated it for the Paci Fairy
Then, with the help of her AWESOME big brother, she put all her pacies in the envelope.
Next she sealed the envelope and took it to the mail box.
We left our house to go watch Daddy play basketball (it may have been cheating a bit, since the game didn't start until 9 pm and it was 30 minutes away. We got home at 10:30 pm. She was super tired when we got home which may or may not have helped her fall asleep faster than she would have if she had goe to bed at her normal time.)
When we got home, Kegan and Parker went to the mailbox to check and see if the Paci Fairy came while we were at the basketball game.....SHE CAME, but had to leave the package on the front step since it wouldn't fit in the mailbox.
Ready to open the package!
Note from the Paci Fairy
Getting the goodies out!
The Minnie Mouse that she wanted, to sleep with, instead of her Paci! Yes, it was from the baby section but that is REALLY what she wanted! The Paci Fairy had to go to 3 different stores to find it!
Parker, holding her letter from the Paci Fairy! SO PROUD!
Chewing her big-girl gum from the Paci Fairy....I think she has swallowed 4 pieces in a matter of 24 hours
OOPS!
ALL her Loot! The Paci Fairy MAY have gone a little overboard....the Tooth Fairy has a lot to live up to!
So, night one went VERY WELL...again I may have cheated a little by keeping her up later than her normal bed time, but it is Spring Break...right?! She went to bed with Minnie and was very excited about being a BIG GIRL and not having any pacies. After about 5 minutes she started crying. I went up to her room, rocked her a quick minute and sang her a song, then told her it was time to go to bed like a big girl! She cried again a few minutes later, I went up to her room again and told her it was going to be ok, that she was a big girl. Then we didn't hear anything from her until about 1am. Kyle went up to her room and told her it was time to go back to sleep and she did. A couple of hours later she wet the bed (I don't think that was from the Paci Trauma, I think it was just an accident, that happens from time to time.) Nap time today went smoothly, as well!
We are SO VERY PROUD of our BIG GIRL!
